The unit does work very well but it is obviously not new. The manufacturing date is from two years ago. It may have been refurbished as well because the filter material is flaking off into the water. It was also missing the hose fill plug. I had bought another unit from a different seller several weeks before and the manufacture date was only a few months earlier. We use them both, one upstairs and one downstairs.

excellent once I used the item, works great to cool down my home in the summer. I live in a state with a average of 20% humitidy so it also acts as a humidifier.
